Lawrence Kasdan’s The Big Chill, written by Kasdan and Barbara Benedek, opens nationally. After attending the funeral of a mutual friend who has committed suicide, eight former college students, now approaching middle age, take the opportunity to spend the weekend of their impromtu reunion grooving to a 60s and 70s pop rock soundtrack, and ruminating ruefully and nostalgically on the highs and lows that have shaped their lives so far. The ensemble cast includes Kevin Kline, Glenn Close, William Hurt, Jeff Goldblum, and Tom Berenger.
