Crocodile Dundee opens in the US. Australian television comedy star Paul Hogan transfers his calculated brand of laid-back, larrikin humour to the big screen in the story of a knockabout crododile hunter-cum-safari guide from the Australian Outback who is whisked off to New York by an American photojournalist (Linda Kozlowski) looking to exploit his folksy charisma before a wide audience. An obligatory feel-good, fish-out-water romantic adventure directed by Peter Faiman from a screenplay by Hogan, Ken Shadie and John Cornell.
