American History X goes into limited release. Directed by Tony Kaye from a screenplay by David McKenna, Edward Norton stars as a violent, white supremacist neo-Nazi who, after seeing the error of his ways whilst doing time for the murder of a black man, returns home to discover that, in his absence, his younger brother (Edward Furlong) has adopted the same neo-Nazi values that he once so readily embraced. A repellent portrait of institutionalised racism whose timeliness has never been more relevant. Due to a creative differences fallout between the director and the studio, three different versions of the film are cut, with the third iteration finally tagged as the release print.
