HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY premieres in New York.Scripted by Phillip Dunne from the 1939 novel by Richard Llewellyn, and directed by John Ford,  Set in a Welsh mining village at the turn of the 19th century, the film chronicles the hardscrabble life and loves of a large coal-mining family as the winds of industrial change start to impose profound changes upon its once bucolic lifestyle. Led by a stellar cast that includes Walter Pidgeon, Maureen O’Hara, Donald Crisp and Roddy McDowell, the film wins 5 Oscars, including beating out Citizen Kane for Best Picture.
