No Blade Of Grass gets a limited release. Written by Sean Forestal and Jefferson Pascal, from the novel The Death of Grass by John Christopher, actor Cornel Wilde’s seventh directorial outing is a futuristic road movie focusing on an English family’s struggle to survive after an environmental disaster has wiped out the world’s crops. A violent, unrelentingly grim eco-thriller whose muddled message and resolute B-picture credentials render it vastly inferior to the decade’s other similarly-themed dystopian entries such as The Omega Man, Soylent Green and even The Ultimate Warrior. Nigel Davenport, Jean Wallace and Lynne Frederick head the cast.
