Quentin Tarantino’s discursive, postmodernist magnum opus, Pulp Fiction, opens in the US. Set in Los Angeles’ criminal underworld, with seven bravura narratives sequences in a temporal loop embroided by the auteur's trademark profanity-laced violence and sudden death. John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, Uma Thurman, Harvey Keitel and Ving Rhames chew the scenery and the bullets with equal relish. Winner of Palme d'Or at Cannes Film Festival and Oscar for Best Screenplay.
