CONAN THE BARBARIAN opens. Scripted by director John Milius and Oliver Stone, based on stories by 1930s pulp fiction writer Robert E. Howard. The spectacularly chiseled body builder and well-known thespian Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as the titular brawn over brains, sword wielding neanderthal methodically slicing and dicing his way across a mythical prehistoric landscape in search of the Snake Cult leader responsible for the murder of his parents. Co-starring James Earl Jones, Max Von Sydow and Sandahl Bergman. Film is a huge box-office success prompting a sequel two years later.
