SUPERMAN 2 opens in US. Written by Mario Puzo, David Newman and Leslie Newman. Sterling sequel mostly shot back to back with part 1 by original director Richard Donner, substantially reshot by Richard Lester following Donner's firing. Christopher Reeve returns with Gene Hackman's Lex Luthor and Terrence Stamp's General Zod leading the villian brigade. Also starring Margot Kidder, Sarah Douglas, Jack O'Halloran, Ned Beatty and Valerie Perrine.
