Adapted from Ian Fleming's novel by Roald Dahl, and directed by Lewis Gilbert, You Only Live Twice opens in the U.S. With Sean Connery back on board, the fifth entry in the celebrated 007 franchise finds Bond in Japan working with the local secret service to stop SPECTRE 's Ernst Stavros Blofeld (Donald Pleasance) from precipitating a US-Russia nuclear confrontation. Co-starring welcome regulars Bernard Lee, Lois Maxwell and Desmond Llewellyn, the film is a world-wide blockbuster. John Barry's lushly orchestrated title song, sung by Nancy Sinatra, becomes an instant Bond classic.
