YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE opens. Directed by Lewis Gilbert. Written by Roald Dahl, borrowing only the title from Ian Fleming's same-titled novel. Franchise's fifth entry finds Bond in Japan working with the local secret service to stop Spectre's Ernst Stavros Blofeld (Donald Pleasance) from precipitating a US-Russia nuclear confrontation. Along with Sean Connery, regulars Bernard Lee, Lois Maxwell and Desmond Llewellyn make welcome return. John Barry's lushly orchestrated title song, sung by Nancy Sinatra, becomes an instant Bond classic.
