June 13 1962 

Lolita, directed by Stanley Kubrick, premieres in New York. Written by Kubrick, James Harris and an uncredited Vladimir Nabokov, from his own controversial novel, the film is set in the 1950s and stars James Mason as a middle-aged British college professor who becomes fatefully consumed by an erotic infatuation with his landlady's flirtatious teenage daughter.
