Aliens, the belated sequel to Ridley Scott's 1979 hit, written and directed by James Cameron, from a story by Cameron, David Giler and Walter Hill, opens on 1500 screens nationally. Rescued after spending some 57 years in hyper-sleep, Sigourney Weaver's Ellen Ripley must once again confront her worst nightmares when she is ordered to accompany a Marine unit on a recon mission to the same planet that she and the Nostromo's crew first encountered the deadly alien creatures. A gripping, relentlessly paced sci-fi thriller that becomes one the few sequels to defy the law of dimishing returns by matching (and often outdoing) many of the original's celebrated set pieces. Also starring Lance Henriksen, Michael Biehn, Paul Reiser and Bill Paxton.
