Written by Michael Blankfort,  Lewis Milestone’s Halls Of Montezuma premieres in New York and Los Angeles. Set in the spring of 1945, the story centers on a company of US Marines tasked with eliminating a rocket base on a strategic Japanese-held island in the Pacific. Richard Widmark, Karl Malden, Richard Boone and a young Robert Wagner lead the charge in an unremarkable but competently made, anti-war leaning drama whose formulaic conventions do not befit the talent of the man who made the classic All Quiet On The Western Front some 20 years earlier.
