SHINING THROUGH opens. Written and directed by David Seltzer. Based on the novel by Susan Isaacs. Michael Douglas stars as an unconvincing OSS agent and Melanie Griffith as a ditzy secretary-cum-Mata-Hari spy mix romance and derring do in a risible WWII espionage yarn that might as well have been ripped from the dog-eared pages of a Harlequin paperback. Liam Neeson, Joely Richardson and John Gielgud dutifully fulfill their paycheck committments.
