Written by Brad Mirman and directed by the late Carl Schenkel, Knight Moves opens in the US. When a chess-obsessed serial killer starts to carve up women on a remote island off the Pacific Northwest where a world chess championship happens to be taking place, the tournament’s main draw-card, a chess grandmaster, emerges as the prime suspect. An engaging, briskly-paced thriller whose creepy, well-executed, neo-giallo atmospherics competently shore up the narrative’s pulpy shortcomings. Former Tarzan Christopher Lambert toplines alongside his then wife Diane Lane, Tom Skerritt and Daniel Baldwin.
