HAYWIRE opens. Directed by Steven Soderbergh, from a screenplay by Lem Dobbs. Muscular, retro-styled action thriller with real life mixed martial arts fighter Gina Carano putting her formidable skills to good use as a covert, black op agent who as embarks on a kick-ass, continent-hopping revenge mission after surviving an assassination attempt. Though it trades in familiar double-crossed-agent-looking-for-payback tropes, the film’s sin qua non are the brutal, spectacularly choreographed, spatially astute fight sequences which spectacularly exploit Carano's extraordinary skills. Michael Douglas, Michael Fassbender, Channing Tatum, Ewan McGregor, Antonio Banderas and Bill Paxton fill out the high profile supporting cast.
