A mustached, de-Bonded Sean Connery assumes the scowling, unkempt visage of a burnt-out, psychologically damaged police detective whose demons finally overwhelm him one night when his brutal interrogation of a purported child rapist culminates with him beating the suspect to death. A grim, riveting character study with a bloody Ian Bannen holding his own against Connery’s blistering performance. Trevor Howard and Vivien Merchant co-star.
