LA DOLCE VITA premieres in Rome. Frederico Fellini's magnum opus. Written by Fellini, Ennio Flaiano, Tullio Penelli and Brunello Rondi. Marcello Mastroianni as jaded, celebrity-focused tabloid reporter embarks on an episodic, week-long, soul-searching immersion in the ostensibly sweet but starkly empty lives of Rome's rich and famous. Film wins Palme D'Or at the 1960 Cannes Film Festivel, and an Oscar for Best Costume.
