White Squall, directed by Ridley Scott, from a screenplay by Todd Robinson, based on the novel The Last Voyage of the Albatross, opens nationally. When a two masted sailing school brigantine, crewed by a group of teenagers under the tutalage of Jeff Bridges' stern captain, is sunk by a freak storm, with the loss of four lives, the captain is brought up on charges of negligence. Solid, fact based rites-of-passage drama dominated by an astonishing centrepiece storm sequence. Co-starring Caroline Goodall, John Savage and Scott Wolff.
