FRIED GREEN TOMATOES, directed by Jon Avnet, from a screenplay written by Fannie Flagg and Carol Sobieski, based on Flagg's novel Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe, gets limited opening. Themes of friendship, loss & self discovery gently ebb and flow in a wry & winsome, time-hopping (from late 80s back to early 30s) journey into the lives of 4 women.
