Vincente Minnelli's Two Weeks In Another Town, (an unofficial companion piece to 1952's The Bad And The Beautiful) loosely adapted from Irwin Shaw's same-titled 1960 novel by Charles Schnee, premieres in New York. Kirk Douglas stars as a washed up movie star who emerges from a stint in rehab and travels to Rome to try to reboot his career with a role in a director friend's movie. A florid, high camp melodrama steeped in self pity, vitriol and guilt, backdropped by the fading decadence of the eternal city's La Dolce Vita. With Edward G. Robinson, Claire Trevor, Cyd Charisse and Dahlia Lavi.
