Touch Of Evil gets a throwaway release in Los Angeles on the bottom half of a double bill. Orson Welles transmutes Whit Masterson's pulpy dime novel Badge of Evil set in a seedy US/Mexico border town rife with murder & police corruption into masterful, coruscating film noir exercise brimming with forboding malevolence & chiaroscuro grandeur. Welles stars opposite Charlton Heston and Janet Leigh.
